Default WAFL Tips Round 17
** SWANS vs PEEL** at Bassendean Oval....
Swans should get a real challenge here against Peel and any win here should be seen as gold regardless of the margin. Swans can really draw closer to the Fremantle clubs in the top four and start to mount some pressure if they can get a win here. Peel are a chance because they have had success at Basso in the past and will have their confidence up knowing they have the scalps of West Perth, Subiaco and East Fremantle in the last few weeks. Those victories cannot be ignored and they are a chance.

SWANS TO WIN BY 4 points.

**EAST PERTH vs PERTH** at Leederville Oval....
My boys are tired and battle scarred to be honest. A long road trip to Etihad Stadium last week wouldnt have done anything for their recouperation, and they are in need of a few key players to return. Perth are similar in regard to missing a few key players through injury and suspension. Both sides playing for slightly different reasons. EP wanting to avoid the spoon, Perth still holding onto the mathmatical chance of playing finals. Strangely an EP win draws them to within 2 games of the Sharks. Wulff back for the Royals is a boost & the fact the game is at Leederville. But no certanties as the Demons will see an opportunity against a tired side.

EAST PERTH TO WIN BY 14 Points.

**SOUTH FREMANTLE vs WEST PERTH** at Fremantle Oval.
Great day to be at Fremantle Oval. Cold, concrete and chilly blustery winds. That in itself would be an advantage to Souths who themselves are not playing that badly. They have lost tight games to Claremont & Subi in recent weeks and they really needed to win one of those. Their confidence would be taking a bit of a beating, where as West Perths just keeps on soaring. The loss to Peel doesnt seem so bad now and they have plenty in their tanks when it comes to finishing off games. That will always put them in good sted knowing if they are within 4-5 goals, they are always a chance. Souths may stay with them for the best part, but I expect the Cardinals to come home well in the end. Souths dont seem far off, but these close losses are putting pressure on the side.

WEST PERTH TO WIN BY 25 Points.

**CLAREMONT vs PORT ADELAIDE** at Patersons (Foxtel Cup)
Dont know much about where the Port Magpies are at, but I would be certain that if the Claremont side of last year played, they would massacre them. The Tigers side isnt that different from 2010, but a fit Chad Jones and a Byron Schammer would certainly prop the tigers up a little. Port play with a higher salary cap, but really that doesnt count for as much as many think. Claremont have a huge chance to get through to this first ever Foxtel Cup and get their club on the big stage nationally. And valuable prizemoney to go with it. I think they can get through and fly the flag for WA footy.

CLAREMONT BY 32 Points.

Swans will be too strong for peel at basso, I think Perths classy senior players will get them over the line against a royals side waiting for the season to finish, west perth will be too good for south, depends on the side that claremont pick but they should be good enough to beat port adelaide.

I reckon South will bounce back after a couple of losses and WP are probably due to drop one. South by 20 points

Peel i reckon are playing with a bit of confidence and have won at Basso before. Peel by 15 points

K-T and Army back in for Perth but the Perth line up cannot be right. De Jongh named but he is suspended and McDougall's name is missing. If he doesn't play then EP for me. If Doug's plays i will tip the Demons by 6 points. Win this and we are 1 game out of the four with 6 games to go. If that is not incentive to fire up i don't know what is. We haven't been in that position for a few years.

What i said was we haven't been within a game of the four with 6 games to go for a few years. We were in the four for most of the first half of the season in 2007 i think then fell away badly and 2004 we were in the hunt until the last 4 or 5 games. I would be disappointed if we fell away from here. I think we need to learn to tough a season out right til the end regardless of whether we make the four or not. We need to learn to do that as a first step if the club is serious about being a top four side next year.

South by 7 points - reckon we can bounce back & WP are due for a lose u reckon

SD by 2 points - wouldnt surprise me to see Peel win again, but think SD will just scrap in

Perth by 5 points - could go either way this, but with EP travelling last week & the fact they have been very ordinary of late, think Perth will get up...just

SF losing Gaff and Phillips will hurt them especially against WP running brigade.....WP keep churning out wins and will have their next loss against EF(LOL).....
SD and Peel should be an interesting clash, will Peels defence be able to keep Hansen, Geappen etc under wraps?....on paper I say yes but SD will be desperate to keep their finals life line alive, lose this and it will be hard work...SD for me
EP and Perth is a toss up...EP may sneak a win due to Perth's inability to seize their opportunities, but on paper Perth have the experience to grind out a win if their experienced guys pull their fingers out. East Perth for me.
