???Does anyone know where of if i acn get copies of past wafl games on video or dvd. e.g 1978 grand final EP v P?

Most WAFL clubs should have tapes of premiership wins for sale. I have the 1970 and 1980 SF wins and it's great to look at the game the way it used to br played every now and then.

If anyone has any old WAFL or even WANFL footage please put it up on YouTube. Doing a search I have found heaps of VFL (to be expected) and a fair smattering of SANFL but bugger all WANFL or WAFL.
I really miss the late 70s stuff from channel 7. I'd love to see some of the Fremantle derby footage from 1979. Two home and away matches that got 20,000 plus crowds to both games. Anything will do actually. Does anyone have anything they can put up on YT? If you do let us all know and post the link here! |

I have been angry with my club East Perth, whom now dont keep copies of that 1978 Grand Final. I actually tried to get one recently and they said they no longer have any copies. 1978 was an iconic game in the history of the club (and the WAFL) and I found it amazing they no longer keep copies.
I had a video of that game and lost it. It didnt bother me because I thought I could just go back to the club and buy a new one. I wasnt happy when they told me they dont make copies.... very angry. I know a few people who want a copy, but no chance of that if the club dont make any. I have also tried to contact the ABC and Channel 7 for any old archival WAFL footage but had no luck. I know they both have tons & tons of old WAFL games stored, but nobody knows much about it anymore. I would pay good money for that stuff. Glenn Mitchell would be good for something like that. At least he would know what we are talking about. |

Gas Ch7 played a replay of the 78 GF some years ago (not sure) maybe 5, maybe 10 years ago and i threw a tape in and still have it. Perth were selling DVD copies of premiership video's a few years ago but i think also GF's like the one in 74 which we lost to EF so if that's the case they might have the 78 one as well.
Mate send them an email and ask if they have any DVD copies of the 78 GF. If they say they only sell them to members let me know and I'll get you one or just suck up and tell them you've got a soft spot for the Demons (around the groin area).  Their email address is admin@perthdemons.com.au

You too hey 1977? Must admit when i sent an email to that address i had to ring them 2 or 3 days later and said i've not had a reply and the new marketing and sponsorship girl Rebecca answered the phone and said forward it on to me and i'll get onto it. Think she said the receptionist was away but a properly run organisation would have her emails forwarded to another administrator like the CEO!

Ta DD... I will try but Id be suprised if Perth kept copies of 1978. I thought they would want to forget that one. And if I was able to get a copy from Perth & not East Perth, I would be livid !!
It cant be that hard for EP and I know they would sell heaps of them. Id buy 3 copies straight up as I know of 2 others who would purchase a copy. My brother-in-law can get copies of Swans GF's from the 80's and I know Claremont still sell copies of 1981 and Souths 1980... And I would bet my right testy that EF would still sell copies of 1979. Carn Royals, lift your game on this one.... 1978 is folklore at EP and we should have copies available. |
