Default 2000 Dodge Avenger HELP!!!
I was driving from my dads to my moms and when I stopped at a light I reached under my passenger seat to grab my phone charger and apparently I put the car in nutral doing this when the light turned green I hit the gas and looked down it was in neutral so I put it in drive and suddenly my check engine light starts blinking and it felt like I was driving over the bumps on the side of the highway...

It's too damn late to go to autozone to get it checked...

Does anyone have a clue what it could be? I have absolutely no money right now and it's gonna fuck my world up if I have to get it fixed...

if you were revving the engine while in neutral then shifted into drive with the RPM's too high you could have seriously damaged the transmission... i would just tell them it started blinking, an auto mechanic should be able to hook up a computer to it an tell you what the error code means.

I was super scared it was the transmission... Well it's been a good ride dear avenger 140,000 miles... It's time to rest my love

lol yea it's probably dead... Fuck it if it's super dead I won't have to pay to fix it hopefully my dad will reach into his money filled pocket and hook me up with a new car xD

I'll have to pay him back eventually but at least I have a chance to get a new ride

140k, at least the car made it this far, ya know. if its only the tranny it may be able to be replaced and continue to be a good ride, instead of having to search for/buy another car, used or otherwise.

check engine light should have nothing to do with the transmission.

I would unplug the battery and leave it unplugged for about a half hour. That should clear the codes. Then hook the battery back up and see what happens.

Mhmm... I'm constantly doing fine tuning to my car to keep it in tip top condition... This is the first really serious fuck up sept for when a clamp broke and I was leaking coolant and I had to stop at almost every gas station to fill it with water just to get it to the dealership where they repaired it...

Cool thing is my step dad is a GM of a dealership so when they tried to charge me 280 to fix it he called them and fussed them out since they tried to scam me and I ended up paying 80 bucks... The guy that did it was fucking pissed at me after that
