Default Driver/Co-Driver Biographies
I have done some searching on Amazon.com and can't seem to find any biographies for WRC drivers or co-drivers. Is anyone aware of any biographies that have been published on the likes of Sainz, Makinen, Gronholm, etc. or co-drivers like Phil Mills, Nicky Grist, Mannisenmäki, etc.? Seems awfully difficult to find any detailed information on any of the famous WRC players anywhere except short entries in Wikipedia.

Unfortunatlly that's how WRC sport is popular this days. It was better when McRae was in.

There is offcourse biographies of atleast Mäkinen, Kankkunen, and a book of Grönholm the Grönholm book is one of the best rally book I have read because it is also much a book of the developing of the 207 also quite a bit about TTE. Unfortunally I think theese books are only avilable in Finnish.

I remember reading Vatanen's "every second counts' as an English language version. There is a Richard Burns book.

Was the Gronholm book on the 206 as well ?

Do Finnish publishers print English language editions ?

The Grönholm book was from the start to his first championship. There has been a few english language editions of some rally books, but not of the biographys I guess, its sad, because I belive they give a good view of the sport, not tail lifting like the biograpies usually are.

Juha Kankkusen tie mestariksi -book is available in English. I haven't checked how the language is, I had problems with the quality of Finnish version already.

Any news on the recent Loeb book's release is any other language than French - preferably English release?

Vatanen's 'Every second counts' is well worth reading if you are a rally fan. The edition I read covered Ari's early career up to 1988. The Mitsubishi, Subaru and Ford return years are not covered so hopefully there is a volume two able to be written one day.

Petter Solberg 110%

Have got the English language version but afraid to say I havent read it so cant comment on it's quality! Lots of biogs/autobiogs on rally drivers and navs from years gone by the current bunch have very little out there except Loeb who has plenty of French language stuff out already...

Is there any website that will ship to Brazil selling Petter Solberg's book?

What other books related to rallying do you recommend?

I've read "Real McRae" which is a autobiography up to about 2002, which is quite good.

Highly recommendable, as it is a quite unusually honest sports autobiography. Especially in describing his life and the consequences for his family in the aftermath of his lifethreatening accident in Argentina. Buy it if you can get it!

The Choice of Champions: Amazon.co.uk: David Sutton, Michael Cable: Books

The Choice of Champions by David Sutton whilst not a driver biography per se is a really interesting read as it covers the highs and lows of Suttons career from being the only team manager to win the WRC as a privateer with Ari through to the losses he suffered whilst running teams in the Middle East at the time of the Gulf War

Walter Rohrl Diary: Memories of a World Champion: Amazon.co.uk: Wilfried Muller, Reinhard Klein: Books

Walter Rohrl Diary is just a great book. Rohrl's words are reproduced with his usual candor and lack of PR spin and the Klein archive images capture him in action in the many cars he has driven .

Other booksellers are available its just that Amazon's listings are easier to reproduce!

When I've got more time I'll share more titles with you all!

Carlos Sainz has three books, the first one 'UN ESPAÑOL CAMPEON DEL MUNDO DE RALLYES', by Ricardo Muñoz published just after his first tittle, sold out
The second one 'PASION POR GANAR', by Javier Rubio. published after he changed from Subaru to Ford (also sold out) and the third one 'IMAGENES DE CARLOS SAINZ, published after his official retirement, more on the photographic side, written in Spanish and English which you still can find at Rallywebshop.
