Webmasters speaking of forum posts as "content" is analogous to record companies referring to music as "product."

Page views/eyeballs are like CD sales -- an business metric that denies the inherent value of the material in question (think of the early days of punk and rap). The sad part is that there is no business model for Apolyton, especially the OTF. So the metric is capricious.

Calling the threads/posts in the OTF "content" (and, even worse, arbitrarily designating some as "good" and others "bad") is indicative of someone who doesn't understand the genre, yet is forced to deal with it. I can only conclude that CyberShy decided to buy the site because he thought there was a way to make it financially viable. Because the OTF doesn't create ROI outside its own borders, it will forever be the red-haired outcast at Poly family gatherings.

The purpose of that forum is that closed threads won't be blocking the real good content here.
That's why Al Gore invented thread deletions.

Uh, guys, what's the problem? It's now easier to see when the admin has closed threads, and easier to see what kind of threads they typically close.
They shouldn't be closing most of them anyway, and just closing them and leaving them in the original forum is fine.

No, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about, for example, posts critical of the changes made by the new administration and criticisms of weplayciv.com made in the Community forum. Those posts magically disappeared.

Unfortunately, Cybershy also deletes posts and those don't end up in that forum.

This must be stopped, of course.
