Yeah, you should wish Dan to be more restrictive.

If he was, we wouldn't be reading your "thrades".

Generally slow, with times of many page reloads.

Ervntewc 01-17-2009 08:24 PM

but there is not much traffic... is it the size of the forums?

Eh085zE7 01-17-2009 09:03 PM

get rid of the silly attack defense crap. No one looks at them.

shemadagaswer 01-17-2009 10:09 PM

The interface is too bloated. There was something like 200kb of data per page on default style the last time I checked. 20kb would be reasonable.

But this would require effort from site admins http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cute.gif

exeftWabreava 01-18-2009 01:46 AM

Seriously WTF, there's gonna be less and less membership each week if this continues...

craditc 01-18-2009 11:28 PM

****, it's taken you this long to finally realise that this site sucks Donkey balls?

agolutuaddiff 01-19-2009 07:50 PM

Yeah, it's still frustratingly slow, but about twice as quick as it was yesterday. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

Now there's a change...

I say we lay Poly into a canoe and send her over the falls.

No wait! I know. We could split the forums and make more. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/nod.gif

It is slow sometimes, but not crippling. Amazon.com gets really crippling sometimes, minutes of waiting for one page. As to losing members, if very many more of us go we will be below critical mass. Then there will be no reason to come here, even if the speed inproves.

So don't leave guys! What would we do without each other? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif
I don't know. Maybe go out sometimes with real-life friends?

Or, more likely, just spam up Counterglow or Eventis or somewhere else.

Siffidiolla 01-19-2009 11:07 PM

it is incredibly slow again http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif

Sdzqerty 01-20-2009 01:27 AM

I'm pretty sure it's Bush's fault.

The swearing-in ceremony starts at 11:30 EST tomorrow IIR. So it should be all fixed by about noon I reckon.

The slowdown is temporary, and upgrade-related.

Quote:

The load is related to the reintroduction of features, which requires processing to setup. Currently there are running queries which is processing ~9000 of the archive threads. The query insensitivity is adjusted to the server load, but the load will be high until they finish.

There is also some additional load caused by the transfer system which is still in place. None of us can work full time on the upgrade, which mean that it will take some time before everything is transferred off the proxied apache, and every proxy request result in some extra load on the server.

I myself is mainly working with technical issues currently, and leave configuration and template design to others, which is why I haven't responded to your comments other than by adding some links to the navigation menu.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to continue this long or not.
