Join the Air Force. It's got the highest degree of difficulty for "brain tests".

EDIT: To add, I bought a bottle of Robert Mondavi 2004 Merlot tonight. Haven't messed with it. I'll see about it sometime. Not a big wine drinker.

(General Ediot Degree), I dropped out the beginning of mt 11th grade year thanks to depression. I was still in Barrow, Alaska, very little sun light, population of 5,000 at the time. I should have pushed through and gone an extra year but my mom always stressed doing what felt "right" for better or worse. "Right" for me was getting the **** out of public education, too bad I still haven't gone any further. I like to think I'm smart, which I'm 100% positive I am, but I think too much about this and that and that other thing and omfg shiny object bewbs what? I would be fine working as a janitor for the rest of my life to be honest, I have the attention span of half a gnat.

And now, thanks to my previous Army experience, I probably have a reliability degree of nothing. Infantry and MP is probably the only thing I can qualify for. I'm smart, sure, but I'm "crazy".

I also hate my previous drill sergeants and first sergeant, ****ers could have gotten me into anything other than infantry and I would have jumped on it but nooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Idiots, I have nothing but respect for their actions, their brains could be replaced by Civ I AI.

[SIZE=1] the bar isn't set very high... No, in my case, at this very moment, no it is not. Like I said, thankfully for my family you don't see me on the FBI's top 10 most wanted.

These are hard times, and likely will get harder. From mental standpoint, when it's over, it's one of those things that will make you stronger. Silver spoons don't.

I fully appreciate what is going on. My family (mom and oldest sister, occasional help from dad) is strained helping feed me and paying for this cheap ass ghetto house. I can see that the economy most likely won't improve at least for the next decade or two. I am cheap now and for the rest of my life, I don't care if I'm a millionaire. I would sooner wear a pair of 2 year old holey wrangler jeans and eat rice than think that I deserved new clothes while my neighbors struggle to clothe their 5 year old kids.

If it makes you feel any better, my job offer to teach high school was rescinded after the district administration made an incredibly stupid accounting error. 625 teachers are to be cut because some idiot forgot to factor in the pay for all new staff hirings. Without cutting these jobs the district would have an eighty-something million dollar budget deficit.

Space, you could earn 5 an hour by typing captchas for spammers. In the business this tedious job is usually done by Indians who believe 5 dollars is a fortune, but if you really have nothing on your hands at the moment it's a decent alternative

Unless by now the Indians have become too expensive and Bengali or even cheaper labour has taken over the market.

You could do some volunteer work for an NGO or somesuch and get to know a few people here and there. Very often they have contacts all over the place and can help you get a full-time job.

IF we wanna have a misery contest here's my entry.

I graduated from Michigan State with honors in Accounting. I was a Controller, an I/T manager and a Director of Operations for a major corporation. I owned my own sign manufacturing company and sold it in February. With over 20 years of experience, a degree and a pretty good resume I haven't been able to find a job in the Detroit area for over 9 months now. In fact I have only had 1 interview.

Dunno what you mean by skills resume, but I tried Monster quite early and now ignore everything I get from them. A third spam, a third scams, and the rest jobs I'm not qualified for (posted under the wrong category). I suppose I could try Careerbuilder, but after the spam Monster unleashed on my e-mail account I'm reluctant.

Why are you unskilled? You can use a computer and can obviously navigate a bus system.

Have you tried temp agencies? At least to get skills

How about co-ops or internships? Temp to hires?

You, or she, can email me at ramilhizer@yahoo.com or you can pm me if you feel that is a better route to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And BTW I am willing to relocate anywhere. I'll just send the checks home so I hopefully don't lose the house. It would definitely be embarrassing to move in with mom with my family in my 40's.

Basically, instead of chronologically listing what you have done, you break up the resume into skill areas (like communication skills, administrative skills, whatever) and then you put down what you have done that fits into those skills - this way you can try to emphasize talents or projects you have worked on in non-professional settings, like if you were part of any organizations or clubs in college, or part time or summer work and such. For someone without much professional history, this is helpful.

I did find Careerbuilder better than Monster, though both will send you annoying e-mails. But hell, it only takes minutes to get rid of spam.

Well, no one really has a birthright to starve and live short, brutal, miserable lives. Also, to be frank, anyone posting here could die at any instant, which is why it is important to take what opportunies you have now, because you really have no way of knowing what is around the bend, for ill or good.

In the end, you have opportunities others don't, so just take them and make of them what you can. If in doing so you extend greater opportunities for others and doing thatmakes you feel better, all the better. But thinking that perhaps you aren't miserable enough doesn't do you or anyone else in the world any good, so what is the point of thinking that?
