Yeah, they never showed the Hogfather on BBCAmer... suppose that would be like Fox showing CSI reruns; unlikely until years later if ever...

Does british TV do that, though, have reruns of other folks' TV shows years later ('syndication' is what it's called in America)?

I don't think so. The Beeb is a universe of its own, being public service and all that. At least that's how public service works in Sweden...

Hogfather did play in the US, last November IIRC. But it was on Ion Network. And the DVD was given limited U.S. release through Borders. I believe it is going into general release imminently (if not already).

Snoop -- I have the DVD, and it's quite good. We can arrange a loan through rah if you like.

Sky One is part of Murdoch's Empire, so you may see it on in America under one of his umbrella channels over there.

Um, Zkrib, check you calendar: March 3 already happened. And it's the U.S. DVD release, not a network airing.
Try to keep up.

I saw this was on and if it's good will probably download it rather than wait for it to hit our screens (other than on Sky).

Did people like it?

Hogfather was different, in a probably good way, sort of. It had the usual British TV stuff, similar to how Neverwhere did - so it was quite different than the book, though maintaining a similarity plot-wise to it certainly, and maintaining some of the humour, but changing others to be somewhat more visual/physical.

I'm waiting for Interesting Times. That's just perfect to be made into a movie.
paraphrasing

Aide: Uh general, what the prime requirement for being an 80-year-old barbarian?

General: I guess never losing a battle.

Aide: Right. And there's only 6 of them. There's 60,000 of us. And yet they're smiling.

I must say I wasn't entirely convinced by David Jason as Rincewind, or for that matter Sean Astin as Twoflower. Sir David is Detetive Inspector Frost and Sean Astin is Samwise Gamgi, ther's no getting around it...
