If Gore entered the race, I'd think that many people who currently support Obama or Clinton would sitch their alliegances to Gore. Poular support, maybe. But organization is a different matter. Those folks are career political hacks, and it would be career suicide for them to abandon a candidate to whom they've already committed. Money wowuld also be a problem, as would endorsements; both are already committed. For some reason -- maybe the word "race"-- an analogy to NASCAR or Formula One springs to mind. Gore may have the most promising vehicle, but without sponsorship and a decent pit crew, the vehicle doesn't matter much. |
