They go where they're sent and their life is put at risk.
Whether you agree or disagree with being in Iraq, they're there.

Turkey threatens Iraq border raid

Turkey has begun preparations for a cross-border operation

Military build up
The Turkish government is seeking parliamentary approval for a possible cross-border military operation to hunt down Kurdish separatists in Iraq.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is under pressure to act from a Turkish public outraged by rebel attacks that have killed 15 soldiers since Sunday.

Iraq said that the best way to confront the rebels was through a security accord signed with Turkey last month.

The US also warned Turkey against making an incursion into northern Iraq.

You don't think any of the actions of the US military benefit Canada?

Historically, yes. Precious little today. Your country doesn't benefit at all from the near erradication of significant sea borne piracy?

I don't see any movements titled "let's thank the police" for putting their lives on the line everyday here

You don't?

That was an international treaty - you know, those things your country is loathe to particpate in. In this case we fit the vast majority of the bill. Not because we are selfless, mind you.

You don't? Not really. Every police thread I've seen on many a forum is about how they're fascists on a power trip or how to breaks laws like speeding and get away with it.

The U.S. has done nothing to stop the global piracy, It probably looks that way fron Canada.

which is alive and well, particularly in the Malacca Straits. Alive and well eh, I see. Too bad only 99.9999% of world sea trade goes unmolested, obviously the sea lanes are lawless.
