Plane crashes in to NYC building..... dejavu anyone?

The FBI has told the BBC that there is no indication that the crash is terrorism-related.

girlsround 10-11-2006 10:20 PM

Well the UN says it is a helicopter, the FAA says it is a plane... so when they make up their minds we may know.......

indocrew 10-11-2006 10:33 PM

Ah, but tinfoilhat.com has reported that it was a cruise missile with "I [heart] Texas" painted on the side. Whaddaya think of that?

DianaDrk 10-11-2006 10:41 PM

I patiently wait for Che to claim it's an obvious election ploy by the Republicans.

Wheegiabe 10-11-2006 10:43 PM

Reminds me of the suicide of Charls Bishop
who commited suicide in 2002 by steering a small plane
into a Bank of America building.

gennickhif 10-11-2006 10:52 PM

The scale of this event was what I was first believing when I heard about WTC on the radio 2001. A Cessna or something.

Abarricoss 10-11-2006 11:04 PM

Well, technically it's a UFO until they figure out exactly what it was http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

Mabeavyledlib 10-11-2006 11:47 PM

And Cory Lidle was confirmed to be the pilot, and is confirmed to be dead.

tousuarshatly 10-11-2006 11:56 PM

Fox News reports it was Al Queda, the operative screaming "Death to America!" so loudly that dozens of bystanders overheard.

Inadaquate Yankee's pitching staff, being blasted too many times with old insult "you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn" finally snaps.

Sure, he was such a swell guy until he decided to imitate the 9/11 attacks in his own little way. Are you on denaturated or have you just forgotten to take your pills tonight ?

GinaIsWild 10-12-2006 12:35 AM

Hey, dumbass:

There is no confirmation of fatalities in the building. (edit - there's one, other than the pilot, according to FDNY) All indications are that the crash was accidental, due to mechnical failure or possibly a combination of mechanical failure and pilot error.

The apartment building is a friggin' block from the East River, so it ain't like it's in the middle of Manhattan. The plane was reported to be turning when it went out of control, lost altitude and went into the building.

There's also nothing to indicate that the plane was out of its designated VFR route until the pilot reported problems with the plane to (La Guardia?) tower.

I'm sorry, but people usually don't just accidentally fly into high rise buildings. Actually I think young Winston doesnt quite envision the urban layout of upper Manhattan. I suppose Hong Kong is denser. If youre over the east river and are turned west, it would be hard NOT to hit a building. If you have an MS flight sim, take a look. Or do a google earth on upper Manhattan (the part east of Central Park).

voksveta 10-12-2006 12:52 AM

Hmm, which to trust... Winston's "common sense", or the facts of the case. Man, what a tough choice....really, terribly tough choice there.

I do envision Upper Manhattan quite well, thank you. I stayed for 10 days last year at a hotel 13 streets from the site of today's crash.

You hit a building like that right in the center, horisontally, and it is no accident. A little common sense will go a long way toward this realisation. winston, if the plane if flying at an even, what is it, pitch yaw? its gonna hit horizontally. Right in the center? Do we know the spot to the inch were the nose hit? Its as likely to hit in the central third as in, say the left third.
