I just use Microsoft Security Essential and I haven't had problems with it so far.

If you had to use a paid product of AV, Kapersky would be the way to go. Avast is king of free AV software, of course.

I'm 100% behind Avast.

Admittedly, I haven't had the pleasure to use Kapersky, however so far Avast has trumped Norton and several other paid and unpaid Antivirus Software. It has earned my loyalty for now.

Haven't had any troubles with MSE. It actually helped in various occasions.
