Don't wait to the last minute and cram (prolly too late for this). Instead study a bit at a time in small blocks. Research shows that if you study 30 minutes a day over 5 days, instead of 2 1/2 hours in one day, you will retain more information.

If you have multiple subjects to study, and this you cannot get around studying in large 2 1/2 blocks, don't study a single subject in that large block. Study one subject for an hour, take a reasonable break, then study a different subject for the next hour. Again research shows that you will retain more if you vary subjects being studied in a single large block.

But most importantly, relax! (And by relax, I don't mean do something more relaxing than studying. I mean study, study, study in short blocks with breaks, but don't let it stress you out!) Stress is your biggest enemy. Study hard, but breathe easy.

Oh, and yeah, strictly limit your time on the computer. Perhaps only come on for 15/20 minutes at a time between blocks of studying. Just make sure you don't waste too much of your valuable time ... or else you will be left cramming and stressing!

^This.

If you even check thsi page, you are doing something wrong. Don't look at TV< computer, don't do anything but study, eat healthy, sleep a lot and rest well, and anything else is just going to get in the way.

Obviously hit some blunts. :\

In all seriousness, just do what relaxes you. Just make sure to study also.

You can't really do much in a week. Either you've studied well thruout the sem and will pass or you didn't, for one reason or another, and will fail/pass by the skin of your teeth.

My general tips:
  • Make a summary/cheat sheet and go over them a few times during the week.
  • Stay healthy and sleep early.
  • Arrive half an hour before the start of the exam.
  • Don't try cramming in the last few mins before the exam.
  • Stay calm and relaxed, assuming you've done the best you could thruout the sem.

****... I can't make a Duck and Cover joke since this isn't Vent.

  • Don't come to YF.
  • Practice. Practice. Practice.
  • Don't overexert yourself when studying; get plenty of rest the night before, it'll help solidify what you already know, and allow you to enter the test with a much sounder mind.
  • Always look over your test in detail if you have time; trace your logic.
  • Take your time. Go over the questions carefully, keeping track of which you know and which you don't. If you don't know something, try to come back to it later on and slowly work through it.
  • If you're having trouble. Stop. Calm down. Step back. And reapproach the problem / question. This is important, and advice I constantly seem to have to give to applicants who hand in an incomplete test with time remaining to take it.

Not surprisingly, a lot of this coincides with advice I give people who are going to interviews or taking skill tests. Except for the first item of course. I'd also suggest eating right and getting exercise daily leading up to the test, but that typically takes months to see any notable improvement.

Ultimately, just practice and don't worry about it too much. You should rest the day before so that you're coming into the exam strong.

Don't just regurjitate the information given. Try and explain it and give intelligent arguments. They don't just want you giving the lecture slides as the answers.

sleep is very important, you need your REM-sleep to encode everything you learned.
