So Cris and I went to Cuba this year, (first two weeks in December) to Jibacoa Super Club Breezes AI Resort about half way between Veradero and Havana. It was nice and Havana was amazing, but I felt a little uncomfortable the whole time we were off the resort. The people were not nearly as friendly and relaxed as the people in DR ... not by a long shot! Not so much "unfriendly" as they were aloof. The government oversees everthing, even what people say - I guess this accounts for their reluctance to talk. This year, 2004, we are going to Costa Rica. DR is our benchmark for "paradise on earth" and we're going to check out a whole bunch of places in the Caribbean before we decide on where we'll end up. DR is still "top of the list". We met several people in Cuba who said that they've been all over the Caribbean, and DR is without a doubt their favourite place.
Even though we're excited about going to different places in the Caribbean, I can't wait to go back to DR!
