There are at least two lodges just here in Santo Domingo. Freemasonry (?) has been in the Americas-as you should know-for centuries. With the French-led intelectual movement of the 1700s, the Masons became very popular in Latin America and in many cases became the center for independence movements..

So yes and yes is the correct answer...
