All good questions coming from both sides of the aisle, but I haven't heard a different approach to this situation:

If you're the owner of a CD, your friend likes the band but they only have an MP3 player and they don't want to pay 1 each for a song.

You lend them the CD, they burn the CD onto their MP3 player.

Is that stealing?

In this topic ya'll are talking about stealing off the internet, making copies of CD's and giving or selling them. That's stealing anyway you look at it.

In tigs example it is being done for personal use, not being gave away or sold and that would be a good argument in a court of law.
