Blog styles will be as diverse as the musical styles as the musicians who frequent this forum. I second Nation's request to have more bloggers join the fray. There are a lot a very thoughtful and articulate people who participate here and it is always interesting to get a peek inside their heads. It doesn't matter too much to me where the writer is in the jazz food chain, as long as he/she can write. A student at Cap could be very insightful, though I must say I would be highly entertained by the likes of a Cam Ryga blog.
I for one can't get enough of Old School's missives from down south. Each one tempts me to break out my copy of Paul Prudhomme's cookbook and cook up a mess of artery-clogging Cajun food. New Orleans is the only city that I remember not only by sight and sound, but by smell and taste. I can only hope that history will get the facts straight on this disaster, and not be a victim of some revisionist (and probably paranoid) Administration. As far as I'm concerned, John never has to justify where he's coming from as far as his POV in his blog, he's living it. I sometimes feel a bit self-centered in comparison when I write mine, but I figure I might as well write about what I know best, namely me. |
