Starting Sunday, January 8th I will be hosting a weekly session at Rime from 3-6 PM. The house band will include Terry Deane on tenor, Tommy Babbin on Bass and myself on drums.
I know there are lots of great full time musicians who live in the neighborhood and would like to invite you all down to hang and play some tunes. I'd also like to extend an invitation to any of the Cap. VCC and UBC music students who might be interested. There's no cover charge and everyone is welcome! Thanks, Jesse Cahill |

Big thanks to Jesse for initiating & hosting this! Great for the community! I'm really looking forward to seeing a variety of folks dropping in, interacting & the endless possibilities ...
I should also add that drummer Dan Gaucher wanted to get the Prince Albert Composition Workshop Band to play regularly at Rime, so they will be performing Sunday afternoons at 1 pm, starting on January 15th. Should be a blast... In Dan's own words: "The composition workshop band is a musical vehicle with the sole purpose of exploring original compositions from its members, all young up and coming musicians in Vancouver...the idea also being that the music is written for this band specifically. The instrumentation presenting both a challenge for the composer and a diverse palette of sonic possibilities to draw from. The band consists of myself along with Neil Dylan - tabla, alto sax, flute, and sitar; Evan Arntzen - clarinet; Catherine Toren - piano; Sean Cronin - acoustic bass; Shanto Bhattacharya - cello" A great way to chill out (though, I know there will be some serious ass-kicking, too), dig & interact with the great talent in our own backyard on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 6 pm... |
