This post is more for musicians who perform at The Cellar or may be peforming here in the future. If you're on my list you will also be getting an email with regards to this issue. Recently some people have taken me to task on my promotion of events at The Cellar. I want everyone to know what happens here at the club promotion wise so that you can feel comfortable that everything is being done. Let me first start by saying that our 4 biggest forms of promotion are
1) our 1200+ email list which emailed weekly 2) our website which is updated as quickly as possible. I sometimes tell artists to mail all their bio info to "siteATcellarjazzDOTcom" and then it goes right to our webmaster, therefore quicker. Our website has an online calendar and it also has an option to be printed 3) our entertainment listings are sent to all media outlets here in Vancouver (radio, print and TV) and for the most part are always listed in the free listings sections of these papers. 4) our montly calendar (650) copies that are distributed in the club and various other places around the city. 5) word of mouth 6) The Cellar hotline for upcoming events 6) I try to print posters when I get pictures. I usually print one for the club which is for the most part purely for decoration. Please don't be offended or feel like you're not being promoted because a poster is not hanging up in our foyer. I can't print one for everyone all of the time. If anyone has any questions please feel free to call me. |
