Default Vancouver Jazz on Kootenay Co-op Radio
Hello Vancouver musicians. I play one piece of Vancouver jazz per hour on Giant Steps, my jazz show on Kootenay Co-op Radio in Nelson. In the past couple of months I have played music by Paul Plimley, Peggy Lee, Kate Hammett-Vaughn, Brad Turner, Campbell Ryga, Kathy Kidd, and Francois Houle. The station is available live on the web at www.kootenaycoopradio.com, so the audience is not necessarily restricted to Nelson and area. We occasionally get appreciative notices from such places as, to quote one of our station promos, "Trinidad, Taiwan, and Tblisi."

The station is non-profit. We have no government money, no big corporate money, and no debt. And we have no budget to buy CD's. We depend on donations from musicians and record companies, and on the personal collections of the hosts.

If you want to donate a copy of your CD, it will get played. There is another jazz show on the station as well. Straight No Chaser is hosted by Gusti Callis and Judy Wapp and is a bit more mainstream and traditional than mine. Also, our weekday morning public affairs show, of which I am also one of the hosts, plays a mix of genres including jazz.

If you cannot afford to donate, I completely understand. But if you do want to send something our way the address is Box 747 Nelson V1L 5R4, to my attention.

Thanks, and keep on being a vibrant scene. Bill Metcalfe
