WOAH!!
At least he died doing what he loved... it would have been such a shame for him not to die at the hand of some deadly animal.
...As weird as it is to say something like that. Anyway, it's not like a guy like that didn't have it coming.

Damn, this just sucks so much. He was such a character on his shows, and anytime he was interviewed for that matter. It was so neat seeing how close-up he would get to the animals of the world he loved. I truly respected his approach towards documenting animals, no matter how many people said he was crazy.
For some reason, I had a feeling that he was going to die during his work.
Even sadder, I believe he leaves behind a wife and 2 kids.
At least it seems like he died with no pain doing the thing he was so passionate for.
RIP Steve Irwin...

My word. I can't fathom this.
Of all the things you do not expect when you come home from a day out, this would have to be the most unexpected, and honestly saddening. I'll miss him.
Though many Australians like to distance themselves from his accent and antics, his role as a spokes person for our nation is irreplaceable, and for that, we'll never forget him.
RIP Steve Irwin.

R.I.P Mate.
Well be sad to not hear his words like 'Crikey' with his true aussie accent again.
I remember him here since early 90's with original Crocodile Hunter show on TV with his old look (long brown/blonde hair), i don't know that show reach U.S tv at that time being.

I was never really into his show (or that kind of show, either), but it does suck to hear that he's dead. It just sucks when cultural icons pass away.

i just can't picture him dead, after seeing him all these years he kind of became invinciable, i don't want to believe it. I never was a huge fan, but the show was a pleasure to watch. He will be missed greatly.

No way? For a second there I thought this was just some stupid joke, but it's true. He was bloody hilarious, and he's done so much for both Australia and the World. He was like an Aussie icon. I'm pretty speehless, this has just taken me so offguard? Who would have ever thought?
Rest in peace mate.

Glad at least the Aussies here respect him. Damn, the radio stations here were like "About time. yes." whatever. Until somebody called and complained. Idiots.
Poor poor guy. He's absolutely irreplaceable. Rest in Peace.

I guess it was bound to happen eventually, after all he was dealing with dangerous animals all the time. I guess his ego got the best of him.

I'm hearing the same here. I'm bloody discusted, he was an Aussie icon and although his unorthadox menthods were slightly crazy, he put Australia on the map. He is the true Aussie. Glad to see that the QLD premier gave his respect. My best wishes go to his wife and two children.

Many non australians thought aussies are all like steve Irwin, and many australians wanted to take their distance from him for it.
Its disgusting, Such a great man. I admit to have shed a tear today on his death....

I assume you're refering to the low level of intelligence that is commercial radio?!? Typically nothing unusual for the kind of morons who dribble diarroea all day long (and play awful music as well).
