Actually it works very well, if you use the archive option and use specific words, ie, bmw or coupe, etc.
Quote »Search For Separate multiple words with spaces. Words 2 characters and shorter are not indexed. You may use the qualifiers AND/NOT to refine your search. Use paretheses to group logical expressions. Click the Help button below for further assistance and examples. |

As ascariss mentioned, when you run a search you CANNOT limit it to active threads only. you have to run it in archived threads as well. When a thread doesn't get posted to for 3 months the system automatically archives it. If you are searching for something, search both active and archived threads. The search engine works very well.
Why do you think we insist that all auto threads be named only by mentioning the model year / manufacturer / model name? The idea is to make stuff easy to find. |

I have a new idea... dividing threads into threads... as i was lookign over the lounge section, i thought of how overwhelming it was. so my idea: ex: the car spy shots section: divide it into more folders: saturn, chevrolet, toyota, or even like: gm, toyota motor co, nissan motor co.
just to make everything more organized. |

We've considered doping that, but after examioning the experience of other forums who have done this, we find that members tend to stick to a few brands they are interested in and ignore others. by leaving it the way it is we avoid having threads and brands ignored, by giving them all equal exposure. if you want to search for a brand, the search emngine will seggregate it for you. that is why we insist that all brand names be written fully (iow's, no abbreviations such as merc, chevy or lambo).
