Thanks I have heard some things about V1 and I'm trying to weigh my options. I have had my eye on the Beltronics vector 995. It has some of the features that I am looking for. ![]() (X, K, Ka, VG-2 stealth), plus Ku-band and Laser 360, front and rear detection. |

I hear you, but it depends on what the cops are using to detect your speed. What kind of cobra do you have? ![]() |

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm...il.do It really is only usefull on highways where its impossible to go speedlimit and not be killed but police still give tickets. Around town I dont speed Thanks homie, I appreciate it, that one has features I am looking for and at 1/3rd of the price... Good looking out. ![]() |

I admitt I drive fast, and when I graduate and get my porsche or vette, I know even then I will be tempted to open it up a little more. Do you know how many people die from speeding, when it's not their fault? I suggest you learn to drive on the speedlimit, then perhaps get a radar so you can avoid the police when idiocy becomes a felony. Sorry, but that's just stupid, and selfish. |

Well, it looks like this thread went kind of downhill, but I'll contribute the main topic anyway.
I have a V1 (Valentine One). It has paid for itself over and over again. Right now it is currently one of the best detectors on the market along with the Escort Passport 8500 X50 (or whatever it's called). They are both on the pricier side of the radar detector spectrum, but it is commonly known that in the world of radar detectors, you get what you pay for. Seriously, if you are looking for a radar detector, it is not something you want to cheap out with. But yea, I drive over 100 miles every day in SoCal. The last (and my only) ticket I got was over a year ago, then I bought the V1. It has saved me quite a bit. As far as Laser goes, well there is really no way to prepare for that with a radar detector...if your laser alert goes off you just better hope that it is being used on someone else or that you aren't speeding. Though I have found to get numerous false Laser alerts daily...Usually associated with Infiniti FX's (probably has to do with their laser guided cruise control maybe? Not sure). The way to defeat laser is to get a laser jammer which is perfectly legal (radar jammers are not). I believe the Blinder M20 is a popular choice. The way they work is by jamming the laser for a sufficient amount of time to allow you slow down to a normal speed, then it shuts itself off. There's a lot mroe to it, but yea, you get the point. |

Don't be an ass. A moderator has asked you to stay on topic regarding radar detector recomendations. It's not about free speech, it's about focused discussion and respect for others opinions. The entire forum is run this way in order to avoid the kind of moronic arguments I just deleted from this thread. Now please stay on topic and if you have a problem with the way the forum is run, please contact a staff member directly - and I recomend not being nasty about it.
