Default (For those in school, mostly...) Winter break romances
I saw jesse's post and the responses it got, and figured what the hell, I'll post this even though his situation is a lot more intense than mine.
So basically, I was back at my parents place on my winter (semester) break until Dec. 27. On the night of the 26th I went to the bar to meet a buddy Matt who still lives in the area. He was there with this girl that we went to high school with and graduated one year after us. At some point he left to talk to some other people and I talk to this chick for a while and she says she'd like to see me at Matt's new year's party at the house he rents. I said I'd think about it.
The next day I went drove up to 'Cuse to do work on something for a club for a few days so I wouldn't have to do it during classes. I was planning on going to a new year's party in the area with my roommate, but that fell through, so I went back to Matt's, where of course the girl from the bar/high school is. To make a long story short, after about 6 hours of drinking and doing a variety of other harder drugs, I we end up sneaking up to the attic and having sex until the sun comes up.
Now normally, when I do this sort of thing this is where it ends. The situation being as it was, though, we had to spend the whole next day together, and actually really got along. Then we talked some online today and ended up hanging out tonight and I think I actually sort of like her. To complicate things more, I found out she goes to school about a 3 hour drive from me, which isn't a ton.
I leave again this weekend. What the hell do I do?
PS - I can't see any avatars right now, anyone else having that problem?

Wait a second... isn't there a song in Grease about this sort of thing?
No...no wait, that's "Summer" Lovin'. Wrong season. Sorry bro.

*but seriously* If you want my honest opinion--and this is assuming that you do like this girl as more than a good shag, then 3 hours shouldn't be a huge deal. I've known plenty of relationships WAY more long-distance than that and lots of them have worked out fine (I haven't had that problem, thankfully). I say just try and keep in touch, and next time you're up there, get together, and if you still feel the same way then you'll know it's worth trying.

Gee, we should rename CSS to "Therapy Lessons With Naga" TLWN. Hey, that could be a TV show! FOX8's new hit show! Sweet!
But being serious, despite all the bad hype about long distance relationships they can, and do work. There are actually a few advantages. I've had a few, one lasted just over 7 months, and the only reason it ended is cos I only have one thing on my mind, naturally. But man, it sounds like you seriously like her, and if the sex was good then there is no reason why you should break up! In a long distance relationship, although you may miss the chick, when you see them it's is twice as good! Lets just say being apart has it's good points. You also don't get sick of the chick always talking about crap (and she won't get sick of you, hopefully). Although they are harder to manage, if you feel that strongly, even love someone, It will come naturally and it will work out. And if it doesn't work, you can still be friends etc etc...
Good luck dude

The way I see it, life is nothing if not a journey. If you like each other and the three hours is no big deal, then nothing is lost by making time for each other.
In my own experience, my wife and I dated between New York and florida for about 8 months before we moved in together (no I didn't meet her onlien). We met in a sort of similar fashion and hung out for a week. she then returned to FLorida. I happened to be already traveling there a week later, so I took a few days to go out with her. We hit it off so well, that we started traveling between new york and florida every couple of weeks. we did that for about 8 months. She then got her masters internship in new york and moved in with me. We got married about a year later. That was about 4 years ago. now we travel every chance we get... together.
Long distance works if you want it to.
BTW, I found that a web-cam and a good phone plan worked really well for us.

If she's good to go with sex then enjoy the ride until she sends your ass out the door. I'm not hearing wedding bells. Enjoy it for as long as it lasts.
