Singing the praises of a critical PDF exploit that Apple hurriedly patched?

The exploit that made jailbreakme possible was a very bad hole (root acces through simply visiting a website). Thankfully comex and co used the exploit for good.

That said, why is there any emphasis on 'games'? I can understand some argument about app's, but as a toy?

Yeah, XDA has a lot of noobs, but it's still a great resource. You just have to filter better now.

Nobody is saying Google is safety king, but you can't seriously sit here and tell us that going to a website and a simple script on that page able to change root system settings on your phone is ever a good thing for security.

Every single root exploit on Android is bad on their part but, I've never seen any publicly released root exploit on Android that involved going to a website and clicking install.

Google's equivalent cockup is the "one click" root exploits that made the Droid Dream trojans possible. (Droid Dream used the same exploits to gain root access as the "one click" methods without the users knowledge to insert its payload onto the affected phone.)

I was trying to educate you into what was possible on Android as you seem a bit clueless about what it is capable of and was hoping you'd see why some people like that level of customisation.

Because 3-4 pages of tiles is f*cking awful to look at imo, and would much prefer the choice of some nice looking homescreens.[thumbdown]

Some like choice, but nobody is going to go to that level of customisation unless they are a right geek! When comparing phones, you have to factor in Joe Bloggs. He is the one buying most of the phones out there, and they will mostly run it stock in terms of customisation but may well download a few apps.
