That is an example gallery of some famous canadian model. Megapixels of this camera are just laughable (494px*494px) but technology is interesting. http://www.lytro.com/ PS. I'm sure most of the photographer guys here have heard about this already. |

They have not shown one decent picture yet. I do not know what exactly they are trying to achieve here. Do they want to promote this by showing you can close your eyes and get good photos or something? It doesn't make any sense, every single photo they release, the composition is terrible, adjusting the focus point aint gonna save it if it's framed horribly.
This isn't like going from manual focus to auto focus. This is going from taking complete **** photos with your eyes closed to taking complete **** photos with your eyes open. You NEED a focusing point when taking pictures, otherwise you dont SEE the image, you need to FEEL the scene and what is going on when you hit your shutter button. This removes any connection you have with what you are trying to record. I guess I could see it being implemented into point and shoots and such as a gimmick, but in my honest opinion I don't see how this can improve photographing. If you don't have that connection with your focus point in the view finder, you don't feel the image and it'll most likely be complete ****. I'm not a pro, but I'm an enthusiast and from everything i've learned and been taught, this goes against the very basics of photography. |

I do agree with that for sure.
Also, I guess I shouldn't have ranted too much. I mean after all, I am sure you can chose a focus point like normal, and it will help you later when you realize you were off by a foot or two (or inches, or w/e) The pictures that they've showed have just rubbed me the wrong way I guess, but overall I do think it will be welcomed....I just wish they would do more practical shots, realistic ones. |

I imagine if they could get it to work in video you would never have to worry about the camera focusing during filming and you could change the focus to any part in post production. It would make the job much easier for the camera man although harder to check the performances for people who were not focused on when being filmed. Maybe it could just allow them to fix the focus too if it was wrong.
