on my 23in monitor it doesnt impede on anything. that was all white space before anyways.

I think it sucks ****. I wish I could get rid of it, it's sad when the mobile app now has a more usable chat feature.

It impedes because a) it moves the content off-centre to the left which means your eye finds it more difficult to track new lines and b) it draws your attention to it rather than the content of the page.

I honestly can't tell any difference.. all I see now is -

'You are currently offline.To
chat with your friends, go online.'

in the left column, doesn't get in the way or alter anything

It moves about an inch to the left, which my eyes can cope with. It draws attention because it's new. It's gone now anyway as far as I'm concerned.

Try to see the bigger picture. Whether your eyes can cope with it or not, it's still not natural so it's going to annoy a lot of people other than you.
