You know thay's been fapping in front of that laptop you have there. That's what the spots on the screen are.

I really don't want to think about what my fingers are touching on systems each day. I'm going to start wearing latex gloves I think.

Updated since 2 customers in a row this morning can't seem to follow simple on-screen instructions.

Customers who do not wash are the worst kind. I used to have an aerosol can ready when I knew one had arrived and spray it all round the shop and at the counter.

When did you actually think that customer service was the career path for you? I bet you hate that day with a passion lol.

I'm not in customer service, I'm in Tech support. In actual fact I am not meant to interact with customers at all, but sadly my job description and the reality of my job are vastly opposed.

Support / service. Both are customer facing roles.

My original role was just answering tech related calls and doing builds/repairs. When it became apparent that the sales girls couldn't write out a job sheet for a repair or do a quote without completely screwing it up, that became my responsibility aswell.

Now, I fully accept that interaction with the public is part of work, but does this mean I have to revell in the smell of stale urine, BO, alcohol and smoke on a customer who wants to stand 6 inches from my face. Over-emphasising every H and S so his rotten-tooth cigarette & beer breath makes me heave?

Or gleefully welcome the shouting and derision of a customer who hasn't even read the instructions provided yet seem perfectly happy accusing me of being a useless ****wit who should be fired on the spot.

OK, so I do complain on these forums, I freely admit to that, but it's an outlet that avoids me losing it and going mental with a hammer in the shop. [yes]

Its really not in the slightest bit better in a corporate IT department.

I get visions of our users standing in the front room at home, screaming at their electrical goods because none of it is plugged in and they are yet to notice.

Agreed, despite what some people may say. I think most of them would be like the customers you describe.

Aren't people grand?

One "gangsta" with 3 through the leg, compartment syndrome and a fairly advanced fasciitis said: "how come you want to cut off my leg? i know of so many people who got shot in the leg, and nothing happened!". 95% he's going to sue the hospital (never mind the multiple surgeries trying to save his leg, including an emergent vascular reconstruction).

But my favorite is probably: "I'm going to the lawyers. You just don't treat me well cause I don't got papers". This was an illegal immigrant talking after 28(!) visits and 2 surgeries at no cost to him.
