Default Since when is oriental a "slur"?
Slurs like......."oriental" http://www.commonsensemedia.org/movi...k-high-voltage

Why do Americans allow you to take children into R rated movies anyway?

Because a parent should decide what films their child sees...not a governing body.

Do you have to PROVE you're the parent, or is it like asking an older teen to buy your booze and cigs from the offy?

Children get told by the law what they can and can't do all the time.

Generally how would you prove you're a parent?

But yea, oriental a slur? I think not.

It's funny, as if a parent couldn't tell that CRANK ****ING TWO might be rated R for a reason! Why they would need to be told by a website called Commonsense, I have no idea.

I'm guessing because they are lacking in the some of the aforementioned website title themselves.

Absolutely. However, in my mind at least, the more control left to the parents, the better.

So why should others be penalized if YOU don't give a ****? This "Let's prohobit everything because someone, somewhere, could get *whatever* from it" mentality should be banned and those that break this rule should be punishable by sterilization. I, and everyone i know, has been watching everything as long as we can remember. Actually, the first cartoons that were memorable were Heavy Metal and Akira, i was 7 or 8 at the time.

Yeah when I went to see Gone Baby Gone some fabulous parent had decided to bring her 3 year old daughter along to the movie. Obviously not because she thought the kid would enjoy it but **** it she wanted to see the movie.

I honestly think that the shoot out at the pedophiles house is one of the best ever gun fight scenes in a movie. The reason being it's not some macho all out action scene but it makes you nervous and edgy as ****. Which is a lot more what I imagine being in a shoot out would be like.

Oriental has been a slur for quite a while. Even Merrian Webster's dictionary says that it is "sometimes offensive."

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/oriental

The reason it's considered a slur is because people in the United States use it as a derogatory term for people from East Asia.

And if we can't call them oriental what the **** are we supposed to call them??

Are we really living a world where calling people what they are is considered a "slur"? [rolleyes]

Are deliberately trying to be offensive or what? [rolleyes]

So what is the equivalent term as cacuasian for a black person?

Call "them" whatever race they are or 'asian'. What they are is oriental, I don't know what other description of people with that appearance I could use. Calling them "Asian" is no good because Asia is a huge continent with lots of completely different looking people.

Anyway in this country someone who is "Asian" is someone from India or Pakistan.

Yes I am. There is no equivalent for black people. For black americans it would be african american. But I am serious, your ignorance is astounding.

Yes they could be just like a cacuasian person could be from a number of different countries. What's your point? I like how you as a white guy know what is and isn't offensive to the various other races. Have you ever thought of being an ambassador?
