Big or small, expensive or worth pennies, what item or items have you owned the longest.
Off hand, I can currently think of 3 that I've had for quite a while. When I was a teenager, I used to do a lot of beach combing after every storm, because there were always tons of different things that used to get thrown up onto the beach. One of those items was a windsurfer strap cushion, like one of those seatbelt cushions that wraps around the belt and protects your shoulder. I found it when I was about 13 yrs old and I still have it 28 yrs later, its almost as good as when I first found it and its gone on the seatbelts of every car I've owned over the last 13 years or so, its also much longer than a normal seatbelt cushion and thus is more comfortable. The second item I have is a blue and silver ring that I found on Llandudno promenade when I was 16 yrs old, I saw it glinting in the sun, and picked it up and stuck it in my pocket, where it remained for several weeks until my mother found it after washing my jeans, I never bothered handing it into the Police, as I thought, although it was a nice looking ring it was low value, So maybe no one would report it lost. Anyway, I've still got that ring, and although it doesn't fit my finger/s anymore its attached to my car key ring. The 3rd Item I have is my Ninja-to (or ninja sword), I was working on a course in Wrexham, when I was 17 yrs old and me and a mate, found a sex shop tucked into some back alley, so we ventured in and had a look around, and on the cashiers desk was a ton of different Ninjutsu magazines from the USA, I'm guessing they might have been illegal in the UK, Anyway above the cashiers counter on the wall behind was a Ninja sword. The guy behind the counter said he'd ordered a ton of the magazines from america as well as the ninja sword, cos he liked the look of it. Anyway, He let me have a look at it, and it seemed well made, the blade was 440 stainless steel and as close to razor sharp as it could be and it even had a half tang (which is uncommon in "wallhangers", as they usually have a "rat tail" tang in their wooden grip), So anyway, I made an offer for the sword, which he refused, but after much bartering I managed to get the sword for £150. At that time I was mad into Japan and Ninja's etc, so I probably would have given my left bollock for the sword if it had come to it. Anyway, the sword has served me well and I still have it 24 yrs later, its a little rough around the edges, the cord from the handle has been replaced about 6 times, worn down from the 10's of 1000's of hours of training, but it still cuts as well as it did when I first got it. I'm currently in the process of replacing the scabbard, which has cracked in a few places, with a "shira saya", (plain wooden scabbard, like Zatoichi has), and I Have the piece of wood ready to be planed into shape. I'm sure I have a couple more too, pretty sure I have an 1965 edition of Mayfair, which was a sex magazine, like Playboy, that my dad gave me when I was 16 yrs old (I'd already found the rest of his stash of mags in the airing cupboard). ![]() So what have you guys got hidden away ?? (bodies/skeletons excluded). Or are you not as as keen a hoarder as me, cos I rarely chuck stuff out, even if my wife thinks its crap, I still think I might have a use for it in 30 yrs or so. ![]() |

A Savage 1908 .22 caliber long rifle...rifle.
Had it as long as I can remember. Iit was found when my mother was a little girl (she's 62 now) stuffed inside a wall in an old garage. They found it when they tore the old garage down. Sometimes I like to imagine what kind of life that old gun must have had between the time it was bought brand new till it came to my family. I mostly wonder that when I'm stoned [thumbup] |

Off the top of my head, I have a pair of Diesel jeans which i've owned for almost 10 years and they still look great today. I always end up taking them with me whenever I travel, even though I dont make a concious effort to do so.
I have a screwdriver set which I've owned for 12-13 years now. Also I have some Image comics which i've also had for at least 12-14 years. I just can't bring myself to throw them away... |

An Atari 5200ST (With 1MB HARD DRIVE!!!!) brought "for me" by my dad about a week before I was born - I think he was fairly sure I was going to be a boy.
Which makes it almost 22 years old and it still works perfectly, still got the box for it and everything.... it comes down from the loft about once every couple of years for some nostalgic game playing. |

I'm not one for keeping stuff laying around, usually flog it to fund new bits.
I've got a couple of old games from the late 80's, a T shirt from the early 90's (to fat to fit it now), few pairs of shoes and my CD's which at the time were up to £15 quid each, yet worthless now. There's a couple of hundred of them in a box here and it's nice to dig them out for a listen occasionally. |

As far as items I actually use, my Bauer 4000 Supreme Customs. I've had them since 1994. My oldest piece of computer gear that I still use is my Kodak DX3600 camera. Bought it in 2002. It was only last year that I replaced my PC Concepts ergonomic keyboard which I still remember buying in 1996. Most of the key surfaces are completely worn off and people used to ask me how I could type on it.

Folks are visiting this week and brought over a box of my old army gear from close to 12 years ago. Brought back some memories going through the box and pulling out my old combat smocks and trousers etc. Even found a survival knife in there that I'd completely forgotten about.
The clothing will be very useful for airsoft. Everything still fits me perfectly. [thumbup] |

I have a Nike jacket, wasnt supposed to be mine actually, but we gave it as a gift to my dad 10 years ago (back when he was still alive). It didnt fit his size though, so it was handed over to me, used it ever since..but now it's kinda worn out, with holes poking out the elbow parts. Well, no surprise..10 years IS a long time
![]() Still got some shirts from 5 years ago, still love to wear them..although some of them dont fit my size anymore. And an acoustic guitar (nylon), another hand-me-down from my dad..it's said to be even older than i am ![]() |

Off the top of my head, I have a pair of Diesel jeans which i've owned for almost 10 years and they still look great today. . Ten years ago I was a 30 inch waist and now I'm a 36 inch, was a 38 inch, (just lost a 16 pounds in 2 months, must be all the toast). ![]() I remember I've also got a Halfords (car accessories shop) Air compressor that plugs into my cars cigarette socket, I bought it on the day I got my first car, 13 years ago and its still going strong. My dad did give me a pair of wooden skis he'd had since he was a kid and I had them for years in the garage, until one day I went to try them out in the snow and woodworm had got into them and they looked like Swiss cheese. [rofl] My Dad has one of the first editions of Dan dare magazine and he has owned it for over 60 years, its a bit ragged, but had been kept in plastic for years. ![]() At least I'm not the only Hoarder, although if I leave my stuff to my kids (if I have any), They'll probably think its crap. ![]() |
