Just received my replacement work phone, a HTC HD2.
The box packing is very, very similar to the iphones in design and layout (apart from the horrid looking playschool writing on the box). And it looks like this uses a capacative touch screen which is great (personally not a fan of resistive touch screens)! Spec wise this thing is quite a beast, has a 1Ghz CPU, a 4.3" 480x800 display, 440MB memory (comes with a 2GB micro sd card), 5 MP camera, Wi-Fi and GPS. The only (potential) downside is it runs on WinMo 6.5. Although most of the nasty WinMo UI has been masked with the HTC UI, you still need to use your fingers to navigate the WinMo interface for some of the advanced options and settings. Im going to use this thing for a while and post some impressions later. ![]() ------------------- Ok initial thoughts, HTC have done a very good job in putting together the custom interface for Windows Mobile (MS should just give HTC the job of designing their UI). The interface is very nice and slick and very responsive (imo not as good as the iphones but easily ahead of every other touch screen device). There are some lovely animations when flicking through emails and the weather animation on the home screen is very nice. Also, the phone supports multi touch gestures (again doesnt look to be as responsive as the iphone). Pictures and email text can be zoomed into by pinching the screen, but it doesnt seem to work with the web browser. So far the only downside I can find is that the task manager cant be accessed by tapping the top right of the screen (like with the Touch Pro), so you have to drill through a couple of menus to end any open apps. ![]() |
