Ain't that the truth.

But I do understand why they didn't.

Was it to push the sales of their BT remotes?

I believe they just found it unnessecary because they already had a system in place. And it's just not cost effective to add in another component to the PS3 for a single component which not everyone would take advantage of.

But like I said, I understand why they may have done it, but that doesn't mean I agree with it. I really wish it had IR because I also use a Harmony Remote.

That is a valid point but the PS3 Slims can be controlled over HDMI. I have the Harmony adapter for my other PS3 but the slim is controlled by my Harmony through the TV's IR port. So if your TV supports controlling over HDMI, there is no need for an adapter.
Hold the phone!

I heard this but never actually tried it. Can you point me to some instructions on how to go about doing it with my Harmony remote... I have a Sony Bravia connected to the PS3 over HDMI so it should work with HDMI control right?

I am pretty sure that only the Slim has CEC, so if you have a Slim connected to it, it will work. You just enable "Control for HDMI" under the system settings.
