Well I've tried clicking with my eyes closed and I can't make anything out.
Weird that. You'd think it would be something you could pick up in minutes as well.

I also tried it. I can honestly tell you that my hearing wasn't improved, however my 'touch' feelings were. I could really feel everything I ran into. I could even tell whether it was hard or soft.

Its actually postulated that we all have this ability, and there have been experiments from time to time to prove it.

I did something like that as a kid, and to make me "prove it" I would sometimes be blindfolded and asked to walk around without bumping into things. It was a stupid way of showing off as a kid, but strangely enough I never used clicks or anything. I felt other objects as a kind of "pressure" or "looming effect" that told me when I was getting near..... ?

Oh, well. It would be cool if I had had the patience to stick with it. I suspect its not all that rare.

Actually I still do this now and I'm 20 years old[rofl]. Only problem is is that I know there are objects around me, I just can't just the distance.

Pretty much 80% of the time I can tell when I'm in a large spacious area or when I'm in an area with objects, but I can't tell where they are.

Knowing how crazy this might sound to some, I did some quick research on this and it seems that no: clicks are not always necessary, especially for people like me that have particularly good hearing.
