Default eBay help: Bidder wants to cancel bid
Hello all,

Originally, the item I held up was $330, and the bidder in question asked me if I could lower the price to $30. I said I can't lower it by $30, but I'll lower it to $20. I did so, and he thanked me. Shortly after, he bid on it ($310). Now, about 2 days later, he sent me this message:

"I'm going to cancel my bid, So Don't ship because I won't be paying"

What are my options here?

Has it already sold?

If it has you can offer it to the second bidder as long as its not over 7 days click "Offer second chance" under more actions.

if the buyer does not pay, you go to ebay help section and start a "NON PAYING BIDDER" claim. This claim causes ebay to refund any and all fees for the auction that ebay has charged you.
If you need to sell it, you can relist the item. Relisting it is what I would do, after I filled out the non paying bidder claim[thumbup].

I need to sell it.
And I believe you can't leave bad feedback for a buyer anymore anyway. I've been there it ****ing sucks I had a bidder buy a Technics KN series synth/keyboard for 500 pounds and the little ******* refused to pay. Even then I wouldn't leave bad feedback as I would be worried they'd just retaliate.

Few mistakes in there, got me confused a little but I got it in the end.

As for the response, I have no idea why he would say such a thing. A response from me would be more like:

Hello

I'm had some financial issues and will not be able to pay for the item. I'm sorry for any inconveniences.

Or

Hello

I'm sorry but I'm unable to pay for the item right away. Would it be possible to hold the item a little longer until I can come up with the correct amount. If you need to get rid of the item right away then please feel free to sell it to the 2nd highest bidder.

Sorry for any troubles caused.

I rarely use Ebay, and then just when buying, but I've been struck just how biased it is against the seller and pro the buyer.
You would think they'd be trying to look after the people doing the selling at least as well as the buyers, as that's where their revenue stream is coming from, is it not?
There were a couple of instances where the seller made a mistake and we cancelled the purchase but, because they were up front and helpful, I still gave very good feedback because they were doing their best and promptly refunded the funds.

Oh, and regarding the post above - why the heck can't people actually show some consideration towards others?

File a complain for a non-paying bidder to get it relisted for free. Ebay used to be decent, but these days it blows.

Bah that's poor Oblisk.

Like RainWind has said all you can do now is send a NPB complaint and send a 2nd chance offer like Mr_DoughBoy suggests.

I hate selling on eBay now thanks to the inability to leave negative feedback as a seller. It has left me feeling that the feedback system is worthless.

I think it always has been worthless though. If you left negative feedback it was a fair bet that you would get a retaliatory negative. So ruin your own reputation to report a bad buyer it never seemed worth it to me. It's not just buyers that are a problem though. I had one guy refuse to sell me an item which I had bought buy it now because he had decided to sell it another user. And then there was the time I bought a brand new ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, the guy was refusing to send the item even though I had paid the 270 pounds because his PayPal account had been hacked and the money spent.

I once shipped an item and the dude waited like 4 months and then complained that I never shipped it. Never contacted me, etc. Just waits 4 months until there's a good chance I've tossed the tracking number. So I reply to ebay.. and they don't respond. They end up ruling in his favor stating I never responded and then closed my account.

Ebay is plain worthless. It's nothing but scams and overpriced crap. I see used PC components being sold for more than you can buy them new. Rarely ever do I see a good deal on eBay anymore.
