Technically you should either buy two copies or the Family pack which was $50 and comes with 5 licenses. I am surprised that the store you went to didn't have any, most of the copies left when I went on my lunch break on Friday were the Family packs.

With that said, there is no key, registration, etc. so take it as you will.

The OS is a total screamer though, extremely fast. The only issue I have run into so far is no Digidesign CoreAudio Manager support to bus the computer audio to my DigiRack but Digi is always behind the curve when it comes to support for new operating systems.
No support for my SL and my HD3 yet. Give it a few months.

Safari seems a lot more stable in SL as well. After heavy use the last 3 days, I have yet to have it crash on me. [thumbup]

I haven't yet, but I will. I ran the beta, it was like getting an extra processor, the responsiveness of the GUI was incredible.

Great OS, even though it didn't change alot looks wise, its much better under the hood.

I am waiting till I go to the USA in October and will buy it with a new SSD drive (main reason for waiting so I can get a good deal) for my Late 2008 MBP.

Getting both should be a massive performance upgrade [thumbup]

Read in my local forum some having a kernel panic while trying to install SL on the macbook

Guess i'll wait for awhile then, maybe until the 10.6.1 update is out

Just installed it, the only program so far that doesn't work is Dreamweaver 2004 (it's a PPC app). Other PPC apps like Adobe CS1 work fine though.

I have the Windows version so will probably just run it inside VMware for now.

I heard it was just a spit shined Leopard. I read the engadget review.

There's another review here also :-

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...nchmarks&num=1

Performance overall is hugely improved, but there are some obvious OpenGL regressions.

Shame my iMac Extreme 24" can't use OpenCL due to the AT video card. Apart from that it definitely feels more responsive, which is quite a feat considering it already made using Windows feel like walking through mud.

I agree, everything feels so responsive and fast, with hardly any lag time between opening applications. Time Machine backups seemed to be largely sped up as well. Overall, while not as flash as an upgrade as Windows 7, the performance is totally unmatched.

Quick question, since they didn't have any family packs, I simply bought two copies to install, one for my iMac and the other for the MBP. I don't recall there being any CD Key or registration, so did I really need two copies?

I do love it but it's started to niggle now with a few bugs.

iWeb crashed on me earlier but thankfully I hadn't changed much from my last save to it going down.

Strange alerts when installing nearly all of my Garageband Jam packs.

(I think this happened when the "Register" window would pop up during installation.)

Other than that and the same complaint Lazerbase has about openCL, it is a fine OS.

My iMac is so much faster on bootup and loading apps that it is worth the early release bugs.

EDIT - I did a fresh install of Leopard on my hackintosh and the speed bump isn't just a placebo effect. The hackintosh running 10.5.8 is far slower than my iMac running Snow Leopard. They used to be pretty much on par before when running 10.5.8.

If I did a hackintosh do does things like scrolling with 2 fingers on the mouse pad work? then grabbing with 3 fingers show you windows open, etc?

I would like to give OSX a go, but I'm sorry apple, I'm just not going to pay $1800 AUD for your cheapest laptop. Apples pricing isn't competitive... I'm not going to be taking a leap of faith at that price.

I know the Dell mini 9 apparently works perfect with OSX. So I have thought about it, and that's now less than $500 AUD.

Does this release affect the battery life of notebooks in any noticeable way - good or bad?
