I have to second this, it's made very clear on the download page for iTunes that x64 os's need to download the x64 installer.

Guys, the 64bit installer is for Vista ONLY. It will not install on XP64.

I had to install the 32bit version and then do some tweaking thanks to a guide I found on google, that made it work, because initially it would not recognise my iPhone.

Back to the ipod shuffle. when I connect it, it does show up in itunes on the left side as a connected device, but no music can be added, restoration doesn't work. It just locks up. I know it's an issue with compatibility with XP64, I just haven't found a solution and don't want to fork out $85 for the new shuffle. I can always just copy the music over to my laptop and sync it to my shuffle from there.

Download Windows 7. The Release Candidate is available for free for a year. Check the OS board for more info.

XP x64 is not very good... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/sad1.gif

iPod shuffle not working in XP64, any ideas?

I know that using XP64, I'm already one step ahead than the rest when it comes to having some hardware/software issues. I had to tweak the hell out of itunes (using a guide I googled) just to make it work.

Anyway, now I see my ipod shuffle won't work in XP64.

Is there anything I can do? When I try to add songs to the shuffle from my itunes library, itunes just freezes up until I disconnect the shuffle, at which point I get this error:

And attempting to restore the shuffle in itunes gives this error:

Any ideas? This is the second device to not work once I upgraded to XP64, first my webcam, now my shuffle.

PS: It's a 2nd gen shuffle

I just realized, why the hell did I post this here in general, where it's all jokes and laughter. I'm gonna repost this in other hardware.

Tell me about it, But there's no point. I'll be getting Windows7 as soon as it's released so no need forking out a hundred bucks for Vista at this stage.
