GM needs to re-invent buick in the US as a more mainstream brand and not an old farts car.
Why waste money to reinvent a brand when you got a German brand that is finally making good cars again?

Selling them with a Buick badge works too, but it would be better if it was called Opel worldwide.

the china factor it seems...

It's already a bigger market than the US and borrows heavily from the european market as well...

Gm has not got the resources to re-brand everything... it can't afford to ditch Buick (china factor) and is cutting brands not adding more.

The logical conclusion is to bring Buick into line with opel/vauxhall

Because branding works.

Why Pontiac?!?! Kill Buick and Saturn instead.

No more GTO, no more Firebird, no more Trans AM, no more!

Also, the new Pontiac G8 GXP is FREAKING AWESOME! I want one!!!

Buick and Saturn are already in trouble. Along with Hummer and Saab as well.

Looks like GM isn't doing very well at all.

Very imaginative comparison.
I'm not saying that it will become a supercar mfg like Lamborghini. But for many years Lamborghini produced only ONE model at a time.

They may do something similar with Pontiac to keep the name in peoples minds. GM may be killing Pontiac, but there is no reason they wouldn't bring them back in the future when they recover from their economic woes.

So...what does that mean for us, Pontiac owners? I just inherited Pontiac GrandPrix 2004. I doubt it would be hard to find parts. Should I sell it maybe? Its a real nice vehicle. Not as smooth as today's cars, but still decent.

Apply some 6sigma, will that not help?

You obviously think you have progressed to the next level as you post in religion and politics now so you must have grown up.

Not exactly, I just remember the calls that people make upon themselves.

Pontiac parts will be available for a LONG time to come. And your car can be serviced at any GM dealership.

Every manufacturer is required by law to supply parts for every car for 7 years after it's manufacturing date.

Edit: At least in the US.

I'd suggest lighting it on fire and pushing it off a cliff, those things have been terrible, quality wise for some time now in my expereince.

Some punk kid in my town was irate at losing to me in a "spirited" drive out the backroads and claimed it was "all about the drifting",wight before he nearly totalled it in front of my house doing an e-brake turn.

Not realising that isn't really drifting and nearly wrecking his own and a parked car....it was all rather hilarious.

Er,pretty bad when a car with 80hp more can't beat you and those craptastic beasts have had electrical problems forever.
