Would you go back to get your $16?

so i returned this faulty monitor today at staples.

Dell S2409W monitor = $250
tax = $25
california recycling fee = $16

upon buying the monitor i was told the FULL amount including the recycling fee would be refundable in case of a problem. so i go back, return it and when i get back home i realize they didn't refund the $16 recycling fee. i call them and ask them why, the MANAGER says oh in california it's not refundable, it's sort of a restocking fee.

so i thought ok fine. but i thought let me double check, so i call 2 more staples stores, speak the their managers and they both say it is refundable if an item is returned. anyway i drive past the store later in the day and went to see the manager who LIED to me. and he was surprised i came back. so he was messing around with his computer to get me my $16 back and he says it won't let me do it, i don't know why. and i said that's not my problem, i'm still $16 short. so he goes off, does something with another computer and comes back and gives me my money.

it wasn't even about the money. it could have been $5 and the next time i drive by the store i would go back in and get my money. i don't like the idea of someone trying to pull a fast one on me.

would you go back for $16?

I would on principle, did you get a decent one this time?

i hope so, i drove across the street to fry's electronic and bought the samsung T240. seems nice so far, still has a little backlight bleed at the top though, but i guess it's to be expected with TN panels.

In that kind of situation yes. I would also call corporate and let them know that their manager at that store is a liar, doesn't care about customer service and is a thief.

Congrats on having the balls to do it---I would have and I would definitely call corporate...many people are not bold like you to do that and he will do it again, so maybe just a word to corporate would help remedy the situation from future people being lied to...btw---nice pick for the monitor.

I have a Samsung Syncmaster 2443BWX and love it...personally I don't notice any backlight bleeding (probably has a little) but she a beauty and games and/or movies look amazing.

random, but do you have a sturdy desk? i used to work at a best buy and we had a bunch of those monitors returned because people without sturdy desks would type and the entire monitor would wobble because of the small little "neck" just curious
