This is all madness. I vote that film-makers use unlimited, wraparound aspect ratios and unlimited resolution so that I don't have to see any borders on the movie. I should be able to sit inside a virtual sphere with the film broadcast around me in all directions. Anyone who doesn't allow me to enjoy a movie on the interior of my sphere screen is just being selfish.

Ok, so for a few years we've had widescreen TV's and Monitors. WHY the hell can't directors and producers of films stick to one damned size to film in. When we had 4:3 tv's I dealt with the black bars because I like widescreen everything.[thumbup] In this day and age they(the movie people) should set one standard. I'm sick of the black lines even on widescreen.[cursing][cursing][cursing]

I prefer to view films in the full 16:9 ratio. OK I lose the sides of the image, but all the action happens in the middle anyhow. |

*facepalm* are all paintings the same aspect ratio? It's a matter of creative license. If a cinematographer or director wants their movie "wider", then why not? |

But why should artists be forced into a set canvas? If they want their movie to be wide, why not? Because you've bought a 16:9 screen everybody should tailor their art so that none of its space is "wasted"? Would it be equally unreasonable to make a black & white film? I mean you've paid for a colour TV, should all artists then be forced into using those colours?
