Default Power consumption of electronics when turned off!
Today i decided to dust of my Fluke digital multimeter and build up an adapted mains lead to check the power consumption of some equipment, i was suprised at how much energy things used when turned off and not in standby.

Gaming PC = 40watts
Internet PC = 14watts
TV = 15watts
PS3(default standby) = 40watts
360 = 12watts
2.1 speakers = 12watts

So I have been using 133 watts of power with the devices turned off and not in use, and this equipment is just a portion of the electronics plugged in around the whole house such a waist of power and money down the drain for zero use.
So i recommend unplugging equipment when not is use or flipping the off switchs on your power strips.
