Keep the points system the same, just make first place worth 12 points.

Twats.

They used to have the 10 - 6 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 system.
Didn't they get rid of that because Schumacher basically won the championship half-way through the season?

Thanks you kind sir! [thumbup]

As you know all too well, the FIA have a habit of making extremely hard work of what could be very simple tweaks to the rules.

It's the constant rule changes and grey areas within them that has made the sport soo damn expensive in the first place.

That's because he won all the races

they almost went with a 12,9,7,5,4,3,2,1 system i think. that might have been good.
I believe that is what the teams proposed - even Ferrari was in favour! There would have been enough of a points spread in the upper positions to make it worthwhile going for the overtake and still pass them down far enough to encourage the lesser teams.

As is, it would be very easy for a driver to win 9 races (or just over the 50% mark) and another driver to be second in the same races being 18 points behind and then the leading driver can back off allowing the second driver to get a comfortable advantage in points to no real benefit to them.
For me, the last few seasons have been real nail biters coming into the last few races - something that couldn't be said if they had this BS system going as the Championship wouldn't have been up for grabs!

I think Bernie should quit (he's pushing 80, FFS!) and concentrate on getting his money back from his wife, as it looks like she's going to screw him in the divorce courts, esp' as much of his fortune has been put in her name for tax and other reasons.

Turns out all the teams were none to happy with the decision to change the scoring system so soon to the start of the new season, FOTA claim they are invalid:

[rofl] [rofl] "Spanky" wants another spanking session. It seems from reports that the money grabbing gnome (no not our moderator [ban], but Bernie E) hadn't been truthful to the WMSC inferring that all the teams agreed to it when they didn't.

Thank gawd we can have a normal season now, and hope that something much better is worked out for 2010.

Well if they change it they will just be reversing the system anyway, instead of Ferrari claiming they had the most wins and still lost, instead the will claim they had the most points and lost [rofl]

Rather stick to the points system, its work all these years.
