Default Spiraling DVD sales worry Hollywood
http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/to...hollywood.aspx

Actually not very surprising. A lot of people have maxed thier dvd collections and don't see much need for Blue-ray.

I am definately not going BluRay anytime soon. My old CRT TV is still going strong and my DVD Collection contains all the movies I want to own.

I recently watched Transformers and Wall E with a friend in HD, and the difference was indeed stunning compared to the normal DVD. So there are a couple of movies I would buy again on BluRay. But simply not enough to justify buying a HD TV and a BluRay player now.

In my opinion.

You can buy them cheaper than that if you shop around. Amazon are doing selected BDs from £9.98 atm.

And why does that article talk about DVD sales "spiralling" and then go on to say sales are falling? "Spiralling" means increasing.

Anybody who buys DVDs, BDs or CDs on the high street is an idiot, unless there's some kind of special offer.

No, spiraling means falling. Like a plane spiraling to the ground.

No it doesn't

spiral Show phonetics
verb [I usually + adverb or preposition] -ll- or US USUALLY -l-
1 to move in a spiral:
With one wing damaged, the model airplane spiralled downwards.

2 If costs, prices, etc. spiral, they increase faster and faster:
Spiralling costs have squeezed profits. http://dictionary.cambridge.org/defi...6598&dict=CALD

If you say to anyone X is spiralling they will think you mean X is increasing, as I already demonstrated. If you want to say X is decreasing you say spiralling downwards.

Considering you are the only one who is complaining about it, I think everyone else understood it just fine

They need to get on the ball if they want to see any money in this segment. They should set up something like I-tunes where you can download HD quality for a low enough price that many people won't bother with illegal downloads. Optical media is not the future, and selling it for a lot of money even less so.

Why do people think they need to replace all their DVDs with BluRay? Buy new movies on BluRay, and keep your old DVDs. The price will drop soon enough.

Jesus, what language are you speaking? It's clearly not English.

Or you deduce which direction the sales are spiraling based off of the thread title where it says, "sales worry Hollywood".
