I had hopes, but the show is failing on more than just her imo. Don't much care for the insane scientist guy (his quirks were ok but now they just beat me down every episode). Tired of the main FBI dude from the wire always waiting for her to say what they think and then showing her some new file from the "pattern". Following the birds was about the stupidist thing i have ever seen on tv. Oh, and did i miss a serious make up scene... why is astril chummy with the scientist after he needled her. Didn't seem like the apology worked to me.
Overall, things just seem to clean and easy. Seems to me the show follows same pattern every week 1) We see the target at the beginning somehow using a power. 2)The crew arrives at the scene and the scientist notices something that triggers his encylopedic memory on all things impossible. 3) they go to his lab where he whips up a way to find the target. 4) They get the target 5) We see something about new targets power for next week. Rinse and Repeat. |

The writing and lack of scientific grounding are the specific issues with this show, not the casting. The stupidity increases exponentially with each episode. For it to be at all compelling, either the things that happen have to make some sort of sense or there has to be a reason that things don't need to make sense.
Since the show is set in the real world, the oddities must have fundamental scientific grounding and so must the investigations. They can be as far out as the writers want, but the basic principles must make sense and those basic principles must be tied into the oddities and investigations in a logical fashion. The show fails to suspend disbelief and so it fails. |
