Default So I crashed into an old lady...
And I admit... it was 100% my fault...

almost 3 years with no tickets or any kind of crashes then this... Pissed off to cause i JUST got that truck back running after doing a computer swap for some better gas mileage and better response and power...

She was fine, i hit her at about 25-30mph... i saw her in front of me still moving forward... looked at the clock on the radio... looked back up and she was stopped in the road waiting to turn into a parking lot... it was to late by then... tried to dodger her off the right side of the road... but i was so hard on the brakes they just locked (and there ABS too...) and i couldn't steer out of the way... i was doing 40 in a 45 so i wasn't speeding either... just a lapse in concentration i suppose... anyway... heres the pics.

its like when your on your driving test, your looking at the speedo more than the road. even now i look at my radio way too much, it must cause a lot of accidents. could be worse though, i know someone who died a few years ago for that reason.

I got a remote supplied with my radio so it's alright for me.

Although I must admit, I am a skipper when it comes to music so half the time I'm there pressing FF on my headunit.

Yea it was a GREAT truck... Glossy paint... no dents ANYWHERE, a few tiny chips and scratches here and there... Brand new engine and transmission (less then 30k miles on them, replaced them about a year ago) interior in good condition too, altho the seats were getting worn out after 15 years, i had planned to change them to bucket seats anyway

5.0 302 Windsor, over sized cam & better springs, EFI with new wiring harness and mustang computer... less than 48 hours old)
rebuilt AOD transmission (all new internals, but same casing)
True dual flowmaster double chamber mufflers (give a nice rumble without being ridiculous and annoying)

Was a nice truck. To bad that you really didn't get to have fun with the new hardware. How much of an improvement is the chip rated for?

If you keep the ride, you could always make some money off the motor, or buy something broken and swap what you currently have. Might be able to do that if the insurance happens to cut you a check.

Tyres look a little slick and don't those trucks have horrible brakes ?

Well the brakes arent horrible... but compared to a small and light 4 cyl car they are much worse because of the weight... The tires are not really that old... i got them mid-summer and they still have more than 1/2 tread on them...

i came up with a parts price of about $1800 for nearly everything i would need to replace the front end if the frame is still okay...

So that is repairable after all? Thats not a bad price, just wonder what labor would rack up to.

Could just take it to a shop to have them pull the front end back out, be able to drive it around during the day and when you get some time you could finish up the rest yourself maybe with a buddy.

Please tell me that isn't labeled as a salvage car now. It seems like these days, a dented fender could slam you a salvage title in your face.
