It's all great and well until one of them has an accident, whilst at the same time some child whos fell walking with his dad has an accident and theres only one rescue chopper in the area.

Does the chopper know who to goto? the idiot risking his life? or the child whos having a family trip out?

OHP's avatar is even scarier [surrender]

Accecyncphory 10-24-2007 08:11 AM

yikes! http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/blink1.gif

Taking it to a new level of danger that's for sure, but damn it would feel so good!

Hpdovoxm 10-24-2007 09:29 AM

and I thought bungie jump is stupid enough to bet your life with 1 rope, now this is just seeking death http://discussworldissues.com/forums...es/unsure1.gif

VottCetaVeivE 10-24-2007 09:41 AM

I just kinda wanna die in my sleep quietly, but these guys are absolutlely begging for a horrific painful death. Is adrenaline that powerful?... Enough to want to explode your nut sack on a boulder?[no] nope not me. Ill just have a cup of java

Well to get to their level of experience they probably spent 50 times just doing it NOT in front of cliffs in which they can fly into if they blink at a wrong time.

Once you have a lot of experience and know how to maneuver yourself, there is very little that can go wrong.

I wouldn't say that... there is a lot that can go wrong. Unexpected wind sheer, slight misjudgment of terrain. With experience you can minimize risk, but the risk is still real. I don't think there are too many base jumpers out there that don't know someone close that's been seriously injured or died from their activities.

That looks cool as hell! http://discussworldissues.com/forums...s/excited1.gif
I've got to agree with 3dfx though, as a fell walker / climber myself I would be pretty pissed off if I was left to rot because of someone who had done that. Though people could of course say I shouldnt be climbing up mountains either as there's a risk involved too lol

The child i suppose, or whoever is closest. And i doubt these people are idiots, looked like they knew what they were doing.

draigenia 10-25-2007 03:04 AM

from the amount of times the SAR helicopter takes off from here I would say that the hill climbers are a bigger menace (because they are so fookin stupid that they dont prepare) than people who do "sky/rock diving"

ive heard it take off and land 4 times today

oops there it goes......the seakings off again.

most likely some prat lost in the cairngorms

Unonounaple 10-25-2007 04:58 AM

That was f****** awesome. If I ever die, I hope its doing something like that.

Note: Don't bother sending me a rescue helicopter.

Would love do do that jet one, that looks awesome http://discussworldissues.com/forums...s/excited1.gif

Arratherimi 10-25-2007 08:47 AM

wouldn't want to limp away from that one ![cursing]

Caluabdum 10-25-2007 12:02 PM

Pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Qzmsdoem 10-25-2007 12:14 PM

As a former "thrill seeker", I would absolutely love to do that. While I was in the military I did countless things like that. Parachuting, Hang Gliding, Bungie jumping, you name it, I probably did it at least once, twice if I liked it.http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/devil1.gif It's too bad I'm too old to do that now, although I did take my daughter hang gliding last year.

I dont suppose it ever goes out to sea then eh? http://discussworldissues.com/forums...lies/wink1.gif Besides which, there's a bit of a difference from trying to climb up a mountain with a certain amount of risk, to throwing yourself off the top of a big mo-fo mountain pretending you can fly and whilst doing it saying to yourself "what the hell, I'll throw in a couple of roley poleys while Im at it, rock on and yippe ki ay you biatch!!!!! http://forums.bit-tech.net/images/sm...bit-slayer.gif " lol [rofl]

OR

There's a bit of difference from preparing for a jump and using the correct equipment for it by an experienced person with a certain degree of risk and wandering in the hills without being properly equiped or knowing what you're doing and whilst doing it saying to yourself "what the hell, who needs extra clothing, food and a decent pair of tramping boots, it's only a walk in the country".

Bit cynical, as ill prepared tourists getting into trouble tramping down here is a real hassle for the Search and Rescue" people, whereas the extreme sports people are generally well aware of the hazards and are prepared for them.

majestictwelve 10-25-2007 08:59 PM

Touche http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/smile1.gif but I'd hardly call walking extreme http://discussworldissues.com/forums...es/tongue1.gif Either way your correct and I agree, but if I was "Mr Rescuer" and I had to scrape up the remains of an idiot who thought he could fly I wouldn't be exactly happy about it http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/wacko1.gif
