Default YouGamers Toolbar Tryout!
Hey Peeps!

We are trying out a YouGamers toolbar (created by a company called Conduit), and would like you guys to give it a go and let us know how it feels/looks/works etc. Personally I don't have any other toolbars installed, but this one seems to be pretty cool and above all, easily configurable.

The toolbar works very nicely (tried it on IE7, FF2 in Vista) and as Conduit is backed up by trust-e, the toolbar is safe as well.

Please give it a go and let us know what you think. The gadgets available as default are by no means final (unless you all love them of course), and the default radio station is there just as a placeholder.

The toolbar works both for IE and FF and can be downloaded here:

http://yougamers.ourtoolbar.com/

Cheers,

Nick

Tried it, works fine under Firefox, tinkered with all the options, all seems to be in working order! But I try to keep my Firefox a bare-minimum, so I'll uninstall it now.

But everything works so far.

It is rather good. We will add more RSS feeds soonish (latest discussions, shoutbox etc.) but we want to know if this is a toolbar you guys will/would use.

Cheers,

Nick

It looks great, but I'm with Oblisk. I like to keep my FF as minimalistic as possible.

Not bad. Would be cool if the RC could be built-in to one of the drop-down menus. Also could be cool if it was hidden until you pan the mouse pointer over it... kinda like with the Taskbar.

We are trying to get the latest discussions-list into the RSS menu for you guys with a 1 minute refresh (or less if possible). The latest news (both YG & FM) and latest in-house content is already in there.

The hide-idea is also pretty cool, but not doable with the current toolbar. Perhaps the chaps from Conduit like it and implement it.

Let us know if you have more ideas!

Cheers,

Nick

System requirements don't mention Linux, but it's working fine here on Ubuntu.

Going to be removing it soon, unless I can customize it. Don't like this sorts of things as a rule of thumb - minimalistic.

i'm with the 'minimalistic' guys, but i think i'll keep this toolbar, especially for the RSS

what's going to happen with the radio, are onions going to have their own shows?

In case there's a lot of interest in the toolbar, I am sure that we will try to expand! The guys at Conduit are extremely helpful and I am sure that if we come up with good ideas to make the toolbar even better, they will listen.

YG/FM users to host radio shows? Why not! That would be insanely cool! [thumbup] Nice idea!

Nick

Heh, well that's good to hear that even Linux users are able to use it! Didn't know that. In what ways would you like to customize it? You can already remove most of the buttons if you like, and if you think something is missing, just let us know! I can't promise that all ideas will get into the toolbar but at least we'll try our best. Remember - this toolbar is for all of YOU.

Cheers,

Nick

Weird.. Are you using some special skin/settings in FF which may cause that odd behavior?

I don't think so. I'm using a standard theme from FF site. Blue Ice 1.2.4

The only odd settings I have changed are the pipeline settings.

And my add-on list is:
Adblock filterset.g updater
Adblock plus
DOM inspector
Download statusbar
Down them all
Fast Video Download
Media Pirate - The video downloader
NoScript
PDF Download

I like it.

3 points though:

1. under navigate button: community is spelled wrong.
2. make the button for rss feeds same as navigate/community buttons, so that it looks more in one line?

3. radio is ok, a bit slow but working. ( www.raimaradio.com uses a great engine if i call it right, try it out and see if you can do something with it with them or yourself??)

\point 4, its a keeper [yes]

I installed the same theme (though on my Mac) and it still works fine. It could, though can't say for sure, some of the add-ons you have installed. Bummer.. Well, let's see if get more reports of such issues and can nail down what is causing it.

Thanks for your feedback!

Cheers,

But that is a custom skin They are a hit and miss thing since a skin is only designed for the elements present in the creator's chrome. Switch to the default FF theme and everything will most likely be in the right place.

Update: Still works fine here in Blue Ice.
