Default Recommend me a cheap laptop
My parents are thinking about getting a laptop for traveling, and my mom knows I try to stay up on the latest compute rnews. However, I don't pay much attention to laptops. I did a little searching amongst the usual sites, Newegg, Zipzoomfly, Dell, Pricewatch, etc. Here's my questions:

Does anyone have experience with recertified laptops? My opinion is if they had to make a fix it probably wasn't something too major, and even if it was, in order to recertify the product I'd bet the company inspected the product better than the stuff that just comes off the line.

For people who are not into gaming or really anything that takes a lot of speed, would 1 gb of ram be fine with Vista? I hear Vista is a memory hog, but is it really necessary to upgrade memory if all you do is browse internet and check email?

How does this deal look?
