In regards to fans, you can actually disregard their opinion on the matter, be it music or film. Since their infatuation with the subject obstructs their perception, you can actually see the glee when they post or write. I have even seen it in some reviews by professional reviewers, you can instantly find if the review is valid or not. |

they said something in the film about moving the cube to the city to hide it, i assume because the decepticons were at the dam already. out of interest how many of you that hate the film used to love the cartoons/toys as a kid? it was something id waited my entire life for, brings back so many memories of my childhood so i loved it. i personally dont take sod all notice of directors, i only know about 5 so the fact michael bay directed it means so little to me as i always say tho, everyones entitled to their own opinion so if you have gone and watched it without reading reviews first and didnt enjoy it, thats your fault. dont buy the dvd when it comes out, and move on with your life :) |

So I was a big fan. |

Arcee - check Autobots actually more powerful than decepticons - check too much interaction with boring humans (the green skin doesn't make them less boring)- check lots of new characters introduced for 4 episodes, which you really don't care about - check |
God.... how many analy induced posts are there in this thread?
People who are slating the film because of the weak plot, terrible script and generally poor acting really know absolutely F**K all about transformers. Now the film may have different looking transformers than the original (although prime completely fits the bill) and the story may be vastly different to what is in the original series (none of the spin off ****) and the original film but the film achieves what made Transformers great in the first place. Prime is brilliantly realised... although slightly less sancitmonius than in the cartoons. Megatron is far too tough and looks completely different, his general attitude and dialogue with Prime is just like in the cartoons. The link between humans and the autobots, the personas attached to the characters (jazz for example) is just what I remember from being 5 years old. The way they use some of the script from the original movie as well - "Megatron!!!! PRIME!!!!!....", "One shall stand and one shall fall" and all that. It totally brought back the feelings I had as a child watching transformers. If people went to watch it for a brilliant script, top class acting and PLAUSABILITY (which some seem to be complaining about) then really, you shouldn't have even been allowed into the cinema. |
good post, i think some of the people in this thread expected to go and see a pans laberynth/the departed beating film lol

I had some big stupid grins throughout when I saw this today, so many nice little throwbacks to the cartoons it was great. Great Movie [thumbup]

They drive to the city at the end of the film... now that you know that, it's spoiled it for you? Somebody also mentioned they go to a dam at some point... there is no point in you watching the film now. Guess what, it's also got transformers in it. Will I get a ban now for revealing intricate plot points? |

Coming to a thread near you. |
No no, it's not a spoiler! I swear. At the very beginning of the movie, even before the opening credits, even before the 1:18:08 preview, Optimus Prime delivers a monologue that goes something like this, "... and so I wish you all an enjoyable time at our Transformers movie. Before I sign off and let the movie begin, I want to say one last thing. All the Autobots drive to a city near the end of the movie. I know it doesn't make any sense, and it's a little strange that I would tell you this at this particular moment, but just go with it, ok? The end of this movie which you are about to see for the first time takes place in a city. We all go to this city. In two hours, we'll be in a city. That's where we'll be. In the city. I'm not saying where the city is, but it's out beyond the neon lights. There will be a big battle in the city. It's survival in the city. When you live from day to day. City streets don't have much pity. When you're down that's where you'll stay. In the city. Oh ohhh... in the city. Oh ohhh..."

What about the 95% of people who see it who haven't seen the original? People who aren't guys in the 20-25 age bracket who watched it when we were kids? And the complaint wasn't about the films plausibility, just about the COMPLETE lack of plot (there has to be some plot right?) and the hilarious blunders. But if you liked the film because of a few lines from your childhood, that's cool, its just not enough for some people... |
Huge transforming alien robots were more believable than the pointless, shitty teen love story. Hoping Transformers 2 will do away with it.

Spiderman: 90% X-Men: 79% X-men United 87% Transformers: 57% I had to check to make sure I wasn't going mad as I seem one of the only ones bashing the film. At least the critics agree with me [help] lol If anyone can name some good points about the film I may have overlooked other than the nostalgia value, I will admit I'm wrong... |
