Default Nooo, I gotta have my Gall BLadder removed
Anyone here had a gall bladder removed, I understand it's quite a common op and thought I'd ask if anyone here has had it done.

What precautions, if any, should I take after it's removed, anyone who's had it done, do you eat and drink as normal.

Please ask randoms more and not your doctor.

It's the intelligent thing to do. Really.

Function

The gallbladder stores about 50ml of bile (1.7 US fluid ounces / 1.8 Imperial fluid ounces), which is released when food containing fat enters the digestive tract, stimulating the secretion of cholecystokinin (CCK). The bile, produced in the liver, emulsifies fats and neutralizes acids in partly digested food.

After being stored in the gallbladder, the bile becomes more concentrated than when it leaves the liver, increasing its potency and intensifying its effect on fats. Most digestion occurs in the duodenum
Hmmm...

I ask because I'd rather hear from someone who might have had it done rather than a docter who over 6 months twice diagnosed indegestion and then diagnosed ulcers, a quick look online told me the symptoms were gall stones.[no]

Hopefully mines done keyhole, the hospital said they'd go in through the belly button with the camera and pull the bladder out through the belly button with three small incisions else where so hopefully it ain't to bad

5 days in the hospital? WTF for? My dad has his taken out in 1985 and was home in 2 days. Sore for about 2 weeks, no heavy lifting for 8 weeks.

Why 5 days? did you have complications?

I think it depends on the person, I had a kidney removed 2 years ago, the guy in the bed next to me had the same op and was out in 5 days although he was in his sixty's, I was 34 and was in for 10 days as my blood preasure kept dropping and I kept getting a temperature. even if you say you've got a headache the hospital will keep you in.

Good luck mate. Theres one thing for certain you'll get plenty of kip tomorrow to make up for the sleepless night. I go for my sixth chopping session in 31 years come October, everytime I wake up starvin'marvin and feast on smuggled food as seen as they wont let you scoff for a bit, never puked once yet!

Oh yeah, forget to say your shoulders will probably knack if you have keyhole because of all the pressure on the diaphragm from inflation, get some peppermint or something to combat that.
