Not true, the costs of calling and data is much higher in Europe because they need it to pay the free phones. In the US you pretty much have only flatrates because of the very high free minutes/data. When I signed up to t-Mobile here, I was charged $30 for each line as a 'connection fee' and whilst my monthly contract for a family plan is supposed to be $80, with taxes and surcharges this is ALWAYS more than $100 a month. In the UK, I had a plan that gave the same number of minutes, plus 50 free texts (I pay $4.99 for 400 here) and it cost 14.99GBP (that's $30) for one line. That included the tax. My wife and I have paid more per year since we have been here than we did in the UK. I know the surveys say the US is the cheapest for call rates and data charges, but when you throw in the costs for the plans, add-on costs (like texts), phone costs and taxes, it works out a lot more in my experience. Maybe t-Mobile are just expensive? ![]() |
